After this week, we have successfully identified 29 articles and studies for our literature review. Now that we have concluded combing through the articles that were populated from the relevant databases during our search, we are primarily analyzing the results of the studies in addition to examining the methodology used and specific questions in the surveys, interviews, and focus groups. Constructing surveys with sound methodology that are both reliable and valid is essential for successful health interventions and programs, so analyzing the questions and methodology behind them in the studies is helpful for assessing how applicable they are when planning our program. Overall the specific questions used have been categorized into themes, including perceptions and attitudes, facilitators of CDTM implementation, barriers to CDTM implementation, factors/qualities of physicians likely to engage in CDTM, and overall knowledge of CDTM. Each of these topics is important to consider as they all influence the likelihood of a collaborative practice agreement being established. However, understanding which of these factors may have the biggest role in establishing CDTM is also an important consideration because there may be some factors that could be more easily targeted than others. We will continue to go through the literature in the coming days to assess which of these factors is most significant based on available studies. The main competencies met this week are the following:
- 1.1.3: Identify existing and available resources, policies, programs, practices, and interventions
- 1.2.3: Conduct a literature review
- 1.2.4: Procure secondary data
- 1.2.5: Determine validity and reliability of secondary data
- 1.2.6: Identify data gaps
