Today, I was tasked with compiling statistics regarding the population of Pulaski County, Georgia. Additionally, I will put together a presentation describing the findings that will be shared with the Pulaski County Archway Executive Committee. The primary data that I collected focused on demographics, including race, sex, and age distribution. Other important data included information about employment, labor force participation, household income, childcare, education, and county health rankings. After the data was identified, the findings were compared to previous years and trends were analyzed. Overall, it was found that both the unemployment rate and labor force participation are decreasing, but the labor force is shrinking in size due to a decreasing population in the county. Household income is increasing but still remains below the state average, and those in the area can only afford a house of roughly $90,000, which is much less than the median listing price currently for Pulaski. It was also interesting to see how the COVID-19 pandemic heavily influenced many of these statistics.
