Today I spent time diving deeper into my research for potential community health grants. Some of the specific grants I found are awarded at the regional level and some are at the national level. For example, one grant specifically is awarded by the Appalachian Regional Commission, which this means Hart County is the only Archway community that would be eligible. On the other hand, grants such as those awarded by the National Library of Medicine have a much wider eligibility, but this means they are also more competitive. All of these eligibility factors are important when considering which ones to apply for. Additionally, some of the grants that I have identified focus on specific health issues such as substance use disorders, health literacy, and maternal and child health. While I have created a detailed list of all potential community health grants, it is important that the goals of the grant align with the needs specifically identified by the community who is applying for funding.
