Week 2 Reflection

Overall, my time this week was spent researching grants to fund community health initiatives. Securing outside funds is often essential for implementing projects in areas with limited resources, such as rural areas. That is why Archway works to find potential funding for projects in Archway communities throughout the state. This research has given me great insight into the process of searching and applying for grant funding. I have learned how to look for funding from various sources, including government agencies, private donors, and corporations. Additionally, I have learned the importance of making sure the entity applying for the grant meets eligibility requirements, has project goals that align with the overall purpose of the grant, and has a high enough chance of receiving the funding to make applying worthwhile. Grant writing takes a great deal of effort and time, so an individual needs to make sure their project fits the goals of the grant before applying. The information I have learned this week about the grant process will be helpful as I continue to look for funding for various project in Archway communities throughout this internship and for community health initiatives I may be a part of in the future. The primary competencies this week’s work aligns with are:

  • 7.1.1: Identify potential partners and stakeholders
  • 7.4.1: Evaluate external and internal financial needs and fundings sources
